Jason is an award-winning teacher, scholar and professional known internationally for his expertise in higher education issues; and creativity in promoting effective and inclusive teaching and learning practices and policies. Institutions and organizations around the world have invited him to speak on gender and diversity issues and high-impact pedagogical techniques for teaching and co-curricular programs.
He serves as the International Series Editor for Palgrave (UK) Studies in Global Citizenship Education and Democracy, and as one of only 20 Associate Members (and one of only four in the United States) of the International Association of Universities (the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions).

- Only North American to serve on the 12 Member Editorial Board of the International Expertise Publications Programme of the European Training Foundation (ETF is an agency of the European Union, based in Turin, Italy, that helps transition and developing countries to reform education, training and labour market systems).
- Co-Investigator (with Professor Tomaž Deželan, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), The civil regime in Slovenia and the United States in comparative perspective: An analysis of the impact of the economic crisis from the perspective of civic education policy (grant funded by the Public Research Agency of the Republic of Slovenia).
